Skype is a very popular online calling system whereby people can call friends from other countries for free. Downloading skype has no costs and it saves the cost of calling overseas via mobile phones or telephones. This has been a great invention, even more so to me since most of my close friends are in Australia studying. Skype has allowed me to cut down on my overseas calling costs at the same time keeping my friendship with my friends.
According to the news, Skype and SpinVox have signed a contract and have created a technology that turns voice mails which are left on skype into text messages to alert the owner. This news can be found here. I feel that such an invention is yet another form of technological advancement. SpinVox is now a complement of Skype just like the headphones, speakers and other gadgets required for online calls. In this case, users can know rest at ease and not worry important messages would be left unread. This would probably be of better usage to business people and not us teenagers.
SpinVox have tapped on the inconveniences of skype and made improvements on skype so as to earn money from them. Knowing how globalised their business is, improving skype's function and selling them the idea of the voicemail text messages, it provides easy usage for users. SpinVox also considered the Cost-benefit Tradeoffs. They know that nobody would be attracted if every message they receive would mean paying a certain amount. Hence, SpinVox allowed users to choose the people that they want to receive voicemail text messages from or the number of text messages they want in a day. This provides a variety of choices for users, making it more tentalizing for them. Such innovative methods allows SpinVox to rise up in recognition and I believe in Sales Revenue as well.
With such advancements in technology, who knows what will be created next? A teleporting machine would be good!
